13u through 15u Programs

Updated Friday February 5, 2016 by Babe Ruth Baseball of Stamford Inc..

In an effort to continue improving the quality of our program, primarily by focusing on development and instruction at the youngest levels, our 2016 13u through 15u programs will again feature more young coaches with college and/or higher-level playing experience.

This chart summarizes the baseball programs we offer in each season. Please familiarize yourself with this chart before continuing on this page:

Our 2016 Spring/Summer offerings for 13u, 14u and 15u players will once again feature the CT Babe Ruth "XTreme Travel" program for our Thunder teams, which are comprised of our most competitive players. Teams of players wishing to play at a less competitive level will be entered into the Fairfield Babe Ruth League or the CT State Travel League for Spring and Summer baseball.

These are the 2016 coaching staffs for each of our XTreme/Thunder teams as of November 15:

  •    13U Program - Manager Tom Piersa, coach Thomas McIntosh, 3rd coach TBD
  •    14U Program - Manager John Calo, coaches Nate Newhall and Steve Hagedus
  •    15U Program - Manager Butch LaMotta, coaches Dom Denicola and Gerry Mullins

Thunder Travel players will play against other Babe Ruth teams in the CT Babe Ruth XTreme program. This XTreme travel program will run from late May (13u starts in early May) to late June, and REPLACES the traditional house program.

There will be ONE Thunder Travel team for each age group.

During the Spring season, all players not playing on a Thunder team will play in the Fairfield Travel League.

Thunder tryouts have now been announced, and Thunder players will be chosen based on those tryouts as well as how they practice and perform at our Winter Workouts .   In addition, Thunder players who are older than 13u are chosen based on the skill level, effort, dedication and team commitment they demonstrated in prior seasons with us.

In late June, the Spring Thunder teams continue summer play centered around the babe Ruth Allstar program, and generally speaking, the rosters simply carry over. IMPORTANT:  Each Thunder Manager has the right to replace rostered Thunder players for other eligible players going into Allstar season.  Thunder players who demonstrate a lack of interest, talent, hustle, and/or attitude may be removed from a Thunder roster at any time.

Also in late June, other interested players who are not on a Thunder roster will be invited to try out for our CT Summer Travel League teams, generally by invitation from their respective Fairfield Spring Travel League team managers,

Players who are not playing Spring baseball for a high school or in our Middle School program may be offered an opportunity to play Spring travel (from April 15 - May 15) depending on demand and the availability of coaches. During this period of time, our league's first priority is running the Middle School program, but we will make every effort to accomodate this other group of interested Spring players to the extent it is feasible.
